The box was filled with candies and it was sufficiently wrapped so bruteforcing it would have been difficult. In fact, a couple of kids tried to open it without the code but it's important to make this solution as hard as possible.

+# Offline Challenges
+
+Those are challenges that are made for children, there are two series. One easy
+one for large groups and one hard one for smaller groups. The level of
+difficulty is set on the need of the involvement of an adult to explain the
+challenges.
+
+Each challenge have an answer that is a hint for the next one.
+
+Usually each challenge is given in an enveloppe. Especially for large groups, it
+allows the organisators to see which group is where. On this serie, only the first
+exercise is different for each group (so they don't cheat between groups).
+
+The idea is that at the beginning or at the end of each session there is a small
+explanation of simple ciphers such as the Ceasar cipher, Morse code... Usually
+things that are inside the game which an aim to explain why people would use
+encryption or hide their messages, why is it important...
